Make it a weekend in Birmingham
Local, game-day tested — near Seibert Stadium (Pete Hanna Stadium).
Eat before
- Johnny's Restaurant· 18th St South, downtown Homewood (~1.5 mi from stadium)
This is the meat-and-three every Homewood local swears by — Greek-Southern soul food from a James Beard-nominated kitchen, so get there early and order the roast with two vegetables before the game-day line wraps the block.
- Saw's BBQ· 1008 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood (~2 mi from stadium)
Locals will fight you over whether it's the best BBQ in Alabama — settle it yourself with the pulled pork and white-sauce chicken, and don't skip the smoked-potato before you head to Bobby Bowden Field.
- O'Carr's· 2909 18th St South, downtown Homewood (~1.5 mi from stadium)
A proper old-school Birmingham deli where the chicken salad is the stuff of legend (they move 2,000 pounds of it a week) — perfect for a quick, no-fuss lunch before you point the car toward campus.
After the game
- SoHo Social· 1830 29th Ave S, SoHo Square, downtown Homewood (~1.5 mi from stadium)
This is where the postgame crowd lands — American-classic bar food, craft cocktails, and the famous dollar-beer deal that makes a Bulldogs win (or loss) go down easy.
- The Little Donkey· 2701 18th St S, downtown Homewood (~1.5 mi from stadium)
Come for house-made tortillas and a serious margarita on the patio — it's the loud, happy, table-of-twelve spot fans pile into after the final whistle.
- The Grocery· 2823 Central Ave, downtown Homewood (~1.5 mi from stadium)
Rotating craft taps, pool tables, dart boards and live music — the easy answer when you want to stretch the night out over a few local beers.
Getting in
- Free campus parking· Samford campus, Homewood
Game-day parking is free and first-come across campus (only the South Stadium Lot is reserved for Bulldog Club members and corporate partners), so arrive early because the close lots fill fast.
- Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff· Seibert/Pete Hanna Stadium
Gates swing open 90 minutes before kickoff — visiting fans can take the eastern entry past the Bobby Bowden statue to reach seats behind the visitors' bench.
- Tailgating on the Quad· Samford campus Quad
Setup starts four hours before kickoff on the tree-lined Quad, but you must register your tailgate at least seven days ahead — do it early or you'll be scrambling for a spot.
Don't miss
- Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ· 18th St South, downtown Homewood (~1.5 mi from stadium)
James Beard-winning pitmaster Rodney Scott brought his South Carolina whole-hog to Homewood — the pulled pork with a splash of his vinegar-pepper sauce is a genuine can't-miss bite on a Birmingham trip.
- Bobby Bowden statue & Field· Seibert/Pete Hanna Stadium, campus
The field is named Bobby Bowden Field for the coaching legend who started his career here — snap a photo at his statue by the entrance on your way in, the little tradition every visiting fan does.
