What “participating” means
Participating simply means your school is listed as part of FanPlans and is open to fans giving back through their travel. It is not an official partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement — and you can promote it, or not, entirely at your discretion.
When funds come back to your school, you direct them in accordance with your own guidelines. You’re in control of everything — including whether to do anything at all.

Questions your compliance office will ask
Is this revenue sharing, or NIL?
No. FanPlans revenue is a financial contribution to your athletic program, not compensation to any individual athlete. It doesn’t touch your revenue-share pool or cap, and there’s nothing to file with the NIL Go clearinghouse, which only reviews third-party deals with specific athletes. Structurally, this is the same category as a booster or annual-fund gift.
Do we have to sign up for our fans’ support to count?
No — your program is already listed on FanPlans, and fan-directed support already happens whether or not you’ve filled out the form. “Counting in” doesn’t start anything new; it just means you know about it, get your own Toolkit dashboard, can list your own events alongside the games, and get digital assets you can use should you wish to promote FanPlans.
Is there any cost, contract, or exclusivity?
No. $0 to your program, no contract, no exclusivity. Nothing for your staff to budget, sign, or maintain.
How do we access or direct the funds our fans generate?
Once you’re counted in, your Toolkit dashboard shows your team page link, fan activity, and upcoming games. You direct how the funds are used in line with your own program’s guidelines — FanPlans doesn’t restrict or earmark it. If you choose not to opt in we still track it and send quarterly payments.
Why can FanPlans reference our program without a signed agreement?
FanPlans refers to your program by name to describe real, publicly known facts — which teams are playing, when, and where — the same way sports media, ticket marketplaces, and fan sites do. We don’t use official team logos or claim any affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement, and every page says so. If you’d ever like something changed or removed, tell us and we will.
Can we ask FanPlans to change how we’re represented, or opt out?
Yes. Reach out any time and we’ll address it directly.
Who can sign our school up?
Anyone authorized to speak for your athletic department — Athletic Director, Associate/Assistant AD, Compliance, Development, Marketing, Business/Operations, or a coach. The form asks for your role and a quick confirmation that you’re authorized to express interest on the department’s behalf.
Does this show up anywhere our compliance office needs to track?
It’s unrestricted revenue to your program, the same as any other booster or annual-fund gift — not an NIL deal, so there’s nothing to submit through NIL Go. Your business office can treat inbound funds like any other unrestricted athletics gift.
