Make it a weekend in Greensboro

Local, game-day tested — near First Horizon Coliseum.

Eat before

  • Stamey's Old Fashioned Barbecue· Directly across W Gate City Blvd (formerly High Point Rd) from the coliseum, under 5 min walk

Order the chopped pork tray with the tangy-sweet Lexington dip and a side of hush puppies — this pit has been smoking shoulders over hardwood coals since 1930 and it's the pre-game move locals have made for generations.

  • 913 Whiskey Bar & Southern Kitchen· On S Chapman St, roughly 1,000 ft from the coliseum, walkable

Greensboro's own locally owned whiskey bar does scratch-made smokehouse barbecue and Southern staples, and you can walk right over to the arena without ever moving your car (just note it's closed Mondays).

  • Lindley Park Filling Station· Lindley Park, about 1.5 miles from the venue at 2201 Walker Ave

A 1920s Texaco station reborn as a neighborhood bar and grille where you can grab a burger and a local draft on the patio before you head over — pure Greensboro, no chain energy.

After the game

  • Natty Greene's Pub & Brewing Co.· Downtown at 345 S Elm St, about 2.5 miles from the coliseum

Greensboro's original brewpub since 2004 pours house small-batch beer, and the open-air beer garden that opened in 2024 is the natural spot to land downtown after a win.

  • Little Brother Brewing· Downtown Greensboro at 348 S Elm St, about 2.5 miles from the venue

Tucked into a charming open-air historic storefront just steps from Natty Greene's, this cozy taproom rotates modern eclectic ales and pours a mellower post-game pint than the big rooms.

Getting in

  • Main Complex parking lots (cashless)· On-site, Greensboro Coliseum Complex

The Complex has 6,000-plus on-site spaces and is fully cashless, so bring a card — fees are set per event and paid on entry unless you've prepaid.

  • Arrive an hour early· On-site; lots open 60 min before the event

Lots open a minimum of 60 minutes before the event and Gate City Blvd bottlenecks near tip-off, so roll in early to beat the gate line and grab a Stamey's tray across the street first.

Don't miss

  • Yum Yum Better Ice Cream· On the UNCG campus at 1219 Spring Garden St

Aydelette-family run since 1906, this campus institution's pink hot dogs and homemade ice cream are a rite of passage — grab a dog and a scoop and you've officially done Greensboro (closed Sundays).

  • Stamey's barbecue pilgrimage· Across from the coliseum on W Gate City Blvd

Even if you don't eat pre-game, a chopped pork sandwich at Stamey's is about the most Greensboro thing you can do on a game day — it's been the coliseum's front porch for over 70 years.
